The national Government assured the physically disabled persons in the country that they will not be discriminated against in terms of employment.
In a statement, Labour and Public Service Ministry Undersecretary Hellen Achiro Lotara said the Transitional Constitution of South Sudan prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities.
She added that the Labour Bill before the National Legislative Assembly provides for equal employment opportunities for all.
Ms Achiro said the Labour Bill once enacted into law would facilitate the participation of the disabled in nation building, legislative organs and access to employment opportunities.
Central Equatoria Disabled Persons chairperson Sebut Khablu Ebibon said there was discrimination towards people with disability in employment especially in the private sector.
He lamented a provision in vacancy advertisements that applicants must be physically fit which automatically knock out disabilities’ applicants.
