The U.S. reiterated its commitment to support initiatives to improve security in South Sudan including the money to train the police.
Special Envoy to Sudan Scott Gration and the U.S. deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Vicki Huddleston met with GoSS caretaker Minister for Internal Affairs, Gier Chuang Aluong.Mr. Gration said the United States is ready to work with the ministry to prepare the Southern Sudan Police Services to meet security challenges across the region.
He added that south Sudan police need to be trained well to respond to insecurity threats including cattle rustling activities.
The US envoy said his government was ready to provide GoSS with the necessary financial means to strengthen the police.
