A SPLM defeated candidate from the Shilluk Kingdom in Upper Nile State accused the SPLM-DC of being a militia group and not a political party.

The accusations come after SPLM-DC candidates defeated SPLM high ranking officials.

Alfred Akwech is Undersecretary of the GoSS Ministry of Wildlife and defeated SPLM candidate for Manyo countyand.

He said Lam Akol, the leader of SPLM-DC, a SPLM break away party, is not an ordinary person defending his political rights.

Mr. Akwech accused Dr. Akol of being the leader of a militia group that was involved in the threats that took place in the Shilluk kingdom during the polls.

He added that many armed militia in Upper Nile State have confirmed that they got their weapons from the SPLM-DC.

Asked if there were proofs for their accusations, Oyai Deng Ajak, another defeated SPLM candidate in Upper Nile and a GoSS caretaker minister, said that SPLM-DC was armed illegally by intelligence organizations from the North.
