Nyong community leaders disagreed with Torit County authorities on fees set for third class plots in Ibiliari, North of Torit airstrip.
The leaders refused 75 South Sudanese Pounds proposed by Torit County Commissioner Charles German Ojok as the amount for buying a plot, Emmanuel Radio reported.
The community demanded 350 SS Pounds per a plot.
The Commssioner said the amount was too high and unaffordable for low income earners and none working class in Torit town.
Mr Ojok said the county authorities were ready to work with the Community on better ways of setting land fees.
He added that 350 Pounds could make it difficult for the poor to own a plot.
Commissioner Ojok called of Nyong community to commit to general agreement of the people over plot fees.
He said the cost of second class plot the state parliament set was 807 Pounds quoting the Transitional Constitution as saying ‘the land belongs to the people but regulated by the government.’
