The President of the Republic on Friday issued republican decree appointing national parliament speaker James Wani Igga as new vice-president.
The decree read over South Sudan Radio said lawmakers will elect a new speaker.
President Kiir did not appoint minister of Justice and the minister in the Office of the President.
The national parliament will require Wani Igga first to resign from the post of the speaker before vetting and taking oath.
President Kiir is expected to meet the SPLM caucus today to discuss the future leadership in parliament.
