The National Congress Party and Sudan People’s Liberation Movement were accused of extending their campaign to the polling days and stations in violation of the Election Act.

Lorna Merekaj, Sudan Domestic Election Monitoring and Observation Programme (SuDEMOP) Secretary General, presented today to the press in Juba the results of their findings.

SuDEMOP observers reported that NCP and SPLM transported voters from voting station to voting station to influence the final outcome.

SuDEMOP staff noted the presence of security personnel at polling station and that it created fear and discomfort among voters.

The domestic observers added that in Munuki south, constituency number six, in Juba, NCP party agents were showing voters were to mark they ballot papers while other people were wearing SPLM T-shirts with campaign messages at the polling centres.

SuDEMOP concluded that lack of proper and clear instruction to all the polling officials in all the states contributed to malpractices during voting.
