Journalists and health workers on Wednesday came together in a one-day workshop on mother and child care for correct information dissemination at Easter Radio in Yei Catholic Diocese.
Easter Radio Director Fr Emmanuel Sebit Lodongo said the workshop aimed to bring journalists and health workers together to harmonize their relationships for correct information flow on mother and child care.
He said many health workers misunderstand journalists’ role of giving information through the radios and newspapers because they are not more aware of the importance of journalists to educate people on mother and child care.
Yei River County Information Inspector Ephraim Jomo Michael said the workshop helped journalists and health workers to short out problems facing both of them.
He said that the workshop was to build trust between the media and health workers.
South Sudan BBC Media Action Senior Project Manager Sulakshana Gupta said they are building journalists’ capacity in radio development programs.
She said BBC Media Action is now working in collaboration with the Catholic Radio Network on reproductive and neonatal and child health program.
Journalists and health workers agreed on effective information management on mother and child care.
