Yei Catholic Bishop said the government continues to tax church expatriates in the country.

Erkulano Lodu Tombe lamented that the government heavy taxes on foreign priests, brothers and sisters was unfair, Easter Radio reported.

He pointed out that government continuous tax on the expatriates was worse than what Khartoum government was doing to the church before independence.

Bishop Erkulano said heavy taxes on the expatriate clergy indicate that the government wants to tell them to return to their own countries.

He is worried that government’s continuous heavy taxes on expatriates would one time force them out of the country.

Bishop Erkulano pointed out that government taxation on the church expatriates is too much.

He reiterated that there are a lot of injustices the government is doing to the church.

Bishop Lodu made the remarks on Sunday at Christ the King Cathedral while launching Easter Radio new transmitters to broadcast mass live.
