Jonglei State Governor resigned from governorship and submitted a resignation letter to his State Legislative Assembly and a copy to the National Assembly on Friday.
Kuol Manyang Juuk submitted a resignation letter after appearing in the new cabinet as Defence Minister.
National Assembly deputy speaker Daniel Awet Akot told the press that he received Manyang’s resignation letter.
He said the letter would be put into Manyang’s file in the clerk’s office awaiting state assembly’s approval.
Mr Akot said the speaker adjourned the assembly’s sitting on vetting the new cabinet to Monday.
He said the normal sitting of the house to check the cabinet will take place after the SPLM caucus’ meeting on Saturday.
Parliamentarians will consider personal history while vetting each minister for satisfactory scrutiny.
