National security organs in Juba on Wednesday released the two Ugandan journalists arrested last week without charges.

Justine Dralaze and Hillary Ayesiga were arrested for taking pictures without South Sudan authorities’ permission, Bakhita Radio reported.

Mr Dralaze said they were not beaten although the first day was harsh.

He expressed happiness because he was freed and going back to Uganda.

Issa Muzamil Sebit, an advocate behind the release of the two reporters said they were concerned about journalists’ arbitrary arrests in South Sudan.

He said Uganda journalists’ fraternity was losing patience with South Sudanese authorities.

Mr Muzamil said the security would have compromised with the journalists because they arrived in the country on non working days.

The two reporters were flown back to Uganda on Wednesday.

They were released after South Sudan Union of Journalists and the South Sudan Human Rights Lawyers Association intervened.
