The Catholic Bishop of Tombura Yambio urged people of Western Equatoria and South Sudan to pray for the martyrs and make good use of the peace gained through bloodshed.
Bishop Edwardo Hiiboro Kussala said ‘Martyrs Day reminds the people of South Sudan about God’s plan for this nation and how to implement peace and love among communities’, Anisa Radio reported.
He appealed for strong commitment, hard work and peaceful co-existence among South Sudanese.
The Bishop asked the state authorities to allocate a special place and put a symbol for paying tribute to the martyrs.
He was speaking at Yambio Freedom Square during the commemoration of the eighth Martyrs Day anniversary.
