The ANC Candidate for governor of Lakes State said that he is the rightfully elected governor.
Gabriel Kuc Abiei told Good News Radio that the results announced were the outcome of corrupt and crooked means. He added that the National Elections Commission (NEC) was made to announce results which, in his words, they are not sure of, which they have not legally analysed.
Mr. Kuc said the media were intimidated and did not do their work during the elections.
He cited a number of irregularities committed by the SPLM, like the use of SPLA forces brought to the area for disarmament and, he claims, voted in many different polling stations; unregistered and underage people casting votes; intimidation of voters; and the use of state machinery.
Mr. Kuc lamented that NEC was notified about a number of what he described as “scandals” and neglected them.
He said he would not recognize the results announced by the State Elections Committee.
He added that he would not congratulate the governor-elect.
Governor-elect, Tong Mayay, denied claims of intimidation, saying the SPLM had the most peaceful campaign.
Eng. Tong added that it was SPLM that was continually intimidated by political opponents.
The official results from Lakes High Elections Committee put the SPLM Candidate for governorship way ahead of the ANC candidate with over 200,000 votes separating them.
