CES government, power company sign MoU

Central Equatoria and an electricity provider on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding for hydroelectricity generation in Juba. 
 
Physical Infrastructure Minister Suba Samuel signed for the government and Chairman Fred Anguka inked on behalf of PV Tech Board. 
 
State deputy Governor Manasseh Lomole Waya urged investors to set hydroelectric power generation to provide electricity to Juba.
 
He said rural electrification is important for the government.
 
Mr Lomole urged investors to build dams at Kaya River, Morobo and other tributaries of the Nile in the state to produce electricity.
 
Physical Infrastructure minister Suba Sammuel said the power plant is expected to produce 20 megawatts for Juba with the possibility to increase to 150 megawatts.
 
He disclosed that power plant will be operational in Juba by December.
 
Mr Samuel said the plant will cost 200 million US dollars to be fully operational.
 
PV Tech Board Chairman Fred Anguka said there is a great need for electricity in Juba and South Sudan in general.
 
Central Equatoria governor Clement Wani Konga promised to have a power plant in Lologgo supplying electricity to Juba in July.
