The European Union Observes in Lakes State said they were touched by the way they were well received by the different players they interacted with during their stay as election observers.

Michele Piret and Tord Drugge were the two long term observers sent to Lakes State by the European Union.

They told Good News Radio that they were grateful that people opened doors to them and offered their time, adding that sometimes people stopped what they were doing to attend to them.

The two observers added that the very hot weather was a big challenge.

They also said that as observers, they were not able to intervene or help during the voting process since their mandate allowed them only to take notes.

The two long term EU Observers left Rumbek for Juba on Wednesday afternoon after more than one month in Lakes State.
