Central Equatoria holds constitution dialogue in Juba

Central Equatoria State citizens on Wednesday gathered  in Juba to exchange ideas on the Constitution review process.
 
Yei River County paramount chief Justin Tawongo said it was important to collect views from youths, chiefs and women and submit them to the Constitution Review Commission for incorporation, Bakhita Radio reported.
 
He said citizens must be granted an opportunity to express their views in the Constitution process.
 
Episcopal Church of the Sudan representative Simon Peter said the church feels happy if citizens participate in the Constitution review process because they will respect it.
 
He said the country was staggering because citizens were not involved in formulating the Transitional Constitution.
 
Civil society activist Samuel Dong blamed the government for not doing enough in raising citizens’ awareness.
 
He said the government intentions on people-driven Constitution were not clear.
 
Mr Dong pointed out that time is passing without any positive achievement.
 
He called on the government to pay attention to the financial difficulties Constitution Review Commission faces so that civic education is carried out countrywide.
