Southern Sudan AIDS Commission is reviewing the activities of its partners in the region in order to better their services.
This is the first time the performance of organizations working in the prevention, awareness and treatment of HIV and AIDS is done since the formation of the commission.
Viana Kakuli, Acting Chairperson of the commission, told journalists that her institution is reviewing the activities of the NGOs engaged in HIV and AIDS related activities in southern Sudan.
Ms. Kakuli said the networking with the NGOs is very important to avoid duplication.
She added that her commission is not policing the NGOs, but only trying to know what they are doing in south Sudan.
Ms. Kakuli said the commission also wants to know the sources of NGOs’ resources and how much are they using to fight HIV and AIDS in the region.
Many NGOs that are partners to the HIV and AIDS treatment in southern Sudan attended the network workshop.
Some NGOs promised to open Voluntary Counselling and Testing centres in Warrap and Northern Bahr El Ghazal, the two states lacking VCTs in southern Sudan.
