The UK ambassador issued a Happy Birthday note congratulating South Sudan’s citizens for the second anniversary of their independence and wishing them well for the coming year.
Ian Noel Hughes wrote that Britain was proud to have been among the first nations in the world to recognise the new Republic that was born on 9 July 2011.
‘In the two years since we have stood by its government and people as friends, advisers, supporters and advocates. And we are committed to staying the course with them in the coming years’, he added.
Mr Hughes praises state building efforts by establishing institutions of democracy and crafting new laws to foster justice, freedom and shared prosperity.
He encouraged South Sudanese to stay the course of justice, freedom and prosperity.
