The Government started paying salaries for May and June after a delay due to a number of unspecified factors.
Finance and Economic Planning Acting Minister Marial Awou Yol made the announcement during the presentation of the 2013-2014 National Budget and Appropriation Bill to the National Legislature on Monday.
He explained that there were unbudgeted Defence and Foreign Affairs’ salaries and the Government spent more than it was budgeted for.
Dr Awou announced that in the new fiscal year all state employees must be paid using the South Sudan Electronic Payroll System.
He added that his ministry will only pay salaries through the electronic system.
