Wau Church leaders on Friday held a meeting to prepare for the national reconciliation prayer.

The meeting aimed at raising awareness of different religions and denominations to get ready for the occasion on July 8 at 10:00 AM, Voice of Hope reported.

Catholic Bishop Rudolf Deng Majak of Wau said it was very important for South Sudan to pray hard and unite with one another and with God.

Bishop Deng said reconciliation could not be reached in one day, but it is a process that requires all people to take time and reflect on their past deeds.

He said the national prayer for peace and reconciliation will enable the people to purify their hearts, forget differences and heal wounds of the past.

Bishop Deng stressed that it was the duty of all faithful to pray with opened minds for the benefit of the country.

The meeting drew together the Muslim leaders, the Islamic Council, Coptic, Orthodox, Catholic and Episcopalian heads and traditional leaders.
