The Apostolic Administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Malakal refuted rumours that he was detained during his visit to Wau.

Rumours said Monsignor Roko Taban was detained at Wau airport as he was boarding his flight on Tuesday morning.

He arrived last week in Wau and was reported to have talked about Wau December’s violence during a homily at Wau’s Holy Family Parish.

Monsignor Taban told Voice of Hope over the phone from Juba that he was neither detained nor interrogated at the airport before flying to Juba.

the cleric said rumours were normal things that happen everywhere and not only in Wau.

He assured that he was not detained.

Monsignor Taban advised the faithful in Wau to take the Year of Faith seriously in order to reconcile with each other.

He said what happened in Wau needed prayer and that those detained innocently should be released for reconciliation to become effective and attractive for both the government and the citizens.

Monsignor Taban prayed for God’s blessing on the people of Wau.
