A School teacher hit a pupil to death at Kuru Primary School in Damzubier Payam of Raja County as punishment for going to a night disco dance.
The victim identified as Gismala Jam Dut was one of the 17 pupils who underwent corporal punishment at the primary school for going for the night dance, Voice of Hope reported.The school authority is reported to have issued a rule warning school pupils not to go to night clubs.
The teacher caned each pupil with a stick.
One pupil died and the rest sustained injuries.
A medical assistant at Damzubier Primary Health Care Center, Paulino Thomas, revealed that the victim was stricken at the back.
Police Director at Damzubier, Samuel Frances Ayaga, clarified that as the 16 students sustained injuries the teacher was held by Raja County Police for further investigation.
He confirmed that the situation at Kuru remained calm as the teacher was under police protection.
A victim’s brother also died after falling from the car as they were coming to the scene.
The two brothers are expected to be laid to rest together.
Raja County Commissioner could not be reached for comments.
