The Vice President will visit Khartoum on Sunday, June 30, heading a ministerial delegation to discuss the oil crisis with his Sudanese counterpart.
Government deputy spokesperson Madut Biar Yel told the press at the end of Friday’s Cabinet ordinary sitting that the visit was scheduled for this Sunday. He said Khartoum asked to postpone it to next Sunday because a ministerial delegation is currently visiting China.
The Council of Ministers last week decided to send a delegation headed by Riek Machar Teny to Khartoum to maintain a “continuous dialogue” with the Government while using other mediation channels.
The decision was taken after Khartoum told Juba officially in a letter that it would stop exporting South Sudan’s crude in two months if the Government did not stop aiding Sudanese rebels.
