FAO MEMEBRSHIP TO HELP BETTER AGRICULTURAL ECONOMY

South Sudan’s membership in the Food and Agriculture Organization or FAO can help the country to transform its vast resources to become a major agriculture economy.

Foreign Minister Nhial Deng Nhial told CRN at Juba International Airport after arriving from Rome, Italy, that the bid to join FAO was successful and beneficial to the country.

Mr Deng said the membership is important because FAO would assist South Sudan achieve its food self sufficiency goal.

The Foreign Minister said FAO started supporting South Sudan by training people to improve agricultural production and fight hunger before it became a full member state.

South Sudan Ministers for Agriculture and Forestry Betty Achan and Foreign Minister Nhial Deng attended the admission of South Sudan’s membership to FAO in Rome, Italy on Monday.
