CHINA TO STREAMLINE JUBA, KHARTOUM RELATIONS

China’s Special Envoy for Africa agreed to exert more pressure on Juba and Khartoum governments to reduce tension and resume peaceful negotiations.

Ambassador Zhang Jianhua told the press on Friday in Juba that he met top officials from the national government to find out ways to resolve the tension between the two Sudans, Bakhita Radio reported.

He said China will find better solutions to resolve the conflict between Juba and Khartoum.

Foreign Minister Nhial Deng Nhial said China had shown interest for Juba and Khartoum to resume oil talks.

He said South Sudan will welcome China’s initiative to implement the nine cooperation agreements signed last September.

President Omar Al Bashir threatened to block South Sudan’s crude export accusing Juba of supporting rebels in Sudan.

South Sudan’s Council of Ministers last week decided to send a ministerial delegation headed by Vice President Riek Machar Teny to have talks with his Sudanese counterpart Ali Osman Taha about the current oil crises.
