Sarbule Primary School in Amdurdu Administrative Unit of Heiban County, Nuba Mountains, closed on Thursday marking the end of a successful academic year.
The school was operating since October 2012 despite difficulties facing education in the Nuba Mountains region of South Kordofan.Head teacher Yunan Ibrahim congratulated the teachers and the community for supporting the school.
Mr Yunan said the total number of pupils at the beginning of the year was 496, but 144 dropped out for unknown reasons.
The school closing ceremony drew together hundreds of people including local chiefs and community leaders.
