Sudan gave the go-ahead to the proposed visit of South Sudan’s vice president to Khartoum in order to maintain the channels of communication open between the two governments over the current oil crisis.

South Sudan’s Council of Ministers decided to send a ministerial delegation headed by Riek Machar Teny to discuss with Sudan’s Vice President Osman Taha the way out to President Omar Al Bashir’s threat to stop the export of crude.

Sudan’s official new agency, SUNA, said Dr Machar will visit Sudan in one week.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit and Vice President Machar were tasked to form the ministerial team that visits Khartoum.
