International Finance Corporation or IFC trained 50 South Sudanese businessmen and women on managerial skills to grow their trades and run them more efficiently.

IFC’s Business Edge Programme training focused on accounting, finance, marketing, and productivity skills for Equity Bank clients.

The training, which ran from June 10-14, followed an IFC financial literacy seminar in January that assessed the training needs of 300 entrepreneurs in the country.

IFC East and Southern Africa Director Oumar Seydi said the corporation is helping small business owners in South Sudan improve their financial literacy to strengthen operations and access credit.

He added that supporting smaller businesses is part of IFC’s broader strategy in South Sudan aimed at helping the young country build a strong and a diverse private sector.

Business Edge is an IFC’s strategy to support smaller businesses in South Sudan and across Africa.
