A four-member delegation comprising three priests and one lay person from the Catholic Diocese of Torit on Friday visited the President of the Republic.

Mark Opere, who headed the delegation, said the visit was to thank President Salva Kiir for his solidarity during the sickness of the late Bishop Johnson Akio, Radio Emmanuel reported.

Fr Opere said the late bishop planned to visit President Kiir to express his gratitude for the support he received.

He added that the visit also aimed to inform the President on the initiatives of the late Bishop on peace building and food security through sustainable agricultural programmes.

The delegation also lobbied for support for the initiatives started by the late Bishop Akio.
