Rebel forces took control of Hajr Nimir Garrison outside Kadugli, the capital of Southern Kordofan.
SPLM-North spokesperson Arnu Ngattulu Lodi said in an email on Friday that nine Government troops were found dead on the ground after the Sudan Revolutionary Front or SRF took control of the army garrison.Hajr Nimir Garrison lies one and half kilometres from Mujama, West of Kadugli.
He claimed that SRF captured a number of weapons from Sudan Armed Forces.
Mr Ngattulu added that SRF forces destroyed one water tank.
He claimed that one MIG jet fighter was shot and burst into flames.
Eyewitnesses said many civilians fled the town during the fight.
The claims could not be independently verified.
