Western Bahr El Ghazal Office for Nationality, Immigration and Passport is launching a screening exercise to check on the legality of all foreigners in the state.

The exercise which is expected to last for two weeks was prompted by the influx of foreigners from the neighbouring countries into the state, Voice of Hope reported.

State Nationality, Immigration and Passport Director John Madut Malek announced that the exercise will help know the exact number of aliens in order to grant security and safety.

He said his office wants to ensure that those without documents get registered.

Mr Madut pointed that through registration, the office will be able to establish the exact number of foreigners residing within the state.

The director stressed that those possessing valid or invalid visas would all be screened.

Last year, the Nationality Immigration and Passport office in Wau registered approximately 500 thousand foreigners and believed the number increased this year.
