Lakes State High Elections Committee released partial results, ten days after the polls ended.
The results were made availed to Good New Radio by Ms. Victoria Aluel, a member to the Lakes State High Election Committee.The document is titled “The Final Election Resulted Summary” and is dated April 25, 2010, with an outline of the executive results, shows SPLM candidates in the lead.
SPLM Yasir Saed Arman withdrew his candidacy to the presidency but he got almost twice as many votes as incumbent Omar Hassan al-Bashir: roughly 135 thousand. Al-Bashir got 65 thousand.
Salva Kiir Mayardit, SPLM candidate for GoSS president, scored a landslide of almost 98 percent of the ballots.
Mr. Kiir got over 247 thousand votes, way ahead of Lam Akol Ajawlin who managed almost six thousand.
SPLM Chol Tong Mayay Jang leads with over 200,000 votes ahead of his opponent, ANC Gabriel Kuc Abiei, in the race for governor.
Eng. Tong had 228 thousand votes, over 86 percent of validly counted votes.
The release of the partial results calmed the anxieties of Lakes State residents.
Ms. Aluel said the remaining results will be released today.
