OIL COMPANIES, AU DISCUSS CURRENT SITUATION

South Sudan oil companies on Tuesday met the African Union Petroleum and Monitoring Committee to explore the current situation facing the oil industry in the country and find a way forward to resolve the dispute.

Dar Petroleum Vice President Thongjang Awak said the companies were concerned over the instability of oil production and the halt of border movements between the two countries, Bakhita Radio reporeted.

He said all oil companies were worried about the recent political loggerhead between South Sudan and Sudan.

Petroleum Monitoring Committee Chairman Emmanuel Egbogah said they were determined to resolve the dispute between the two countries.

He added that border issues and irregularities in oil production between South Sudan and Sudan were a major concern to the oil companies.

Khartoum on Tuesday notified Juba of an oil shutdown and the suspension of economic agreements between the two countries.
