GOVERNOR BANS TEAK LOGS TRANSPORT

Western Equatoria Governor issued and order stopping the transportation of teak logs out of the state.

Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro issued the state order on June 1 prohibiting any log to be moved out of the state unless processed into timber, beams or assorted timber.

The order said all dealers who possess teak logs should clear them before June 30.

It added that any person violating the order should be fined 1,000 Pounds or go to prison for more than 15 days and the logs should be confiscated and handed over to the state ministry of Commerce, Trade and Investment.

The order will come into force on July 1, 2013.
