Torit Catholic Diocese tears of sorrow following the death of Bishop Johnson Akio Mutek on Sunday turned into tears of joy when the Apostolic Administrator Fr Thomas Oliha assumed office.
Representing the Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference President Yei Diocese Bishop Erkulano Lodu Tombe said the appointment and installation of Fr. Oliha wiped away the sorrow of Torit Diocese, Radio Emmanuel reported.Bishop Lodu gave Fr Oliha a cross as a sign of accepting responsibility saying now the Diocese has a shepherd.
He encouraged the faithful to continue playing their roles in the Catholic Church and in the diocese after the death of Bishop Akio.
Bishop Lodu urged the clergy, the religious and the faithful to support the Apostolic Administrator in developing the diocese.
Fr Oliha described the moment as a celebration of Catholic faith that came from God long time ago.
The occasion brought together Bishop Rudolf Deng of Wau diocese, Torit Bishop Emeritus Paride Taban, Eastern Equatoria governor, Louis Lobong Lojore, his deputy Jerome Surur Gama, ministers and Members of State Legislative Assembly.
