Authorities of Wau County in Western Bahr El Ghazal state on Monday opened a central market for local commodities in Natabou area of Baggari Payam.

The market was estimated to be three Kilometres square, and authorities are planning to allot 700 shops to traders.

Natabou Constituency representative in Wau City Council, Simon Salafia said they planned to build a police station, a sport ground and a garage, residential plots within the market.

Mr Salafia described the establishment of market as very important and that it would shorten the distance for local traders to sell their products.

He added that before the final allocation of plots, communities of the area will get their shares.

Mr Salafia pointed security provision and commodities storage as major challenges of the vendors.

Earlier Wau County Commissioner, Elia Kamilio Dimo announced the establishment of three central markets in Baggari, Beselia, and Basia Payams.
