Security operatives want to impose a blackout on the coverage of Vice-President’s activities.

Citizen TV owner Nhial Bol told CRN over the phone that a young operative from the national security came to the studios on Thursday threatening the station if they did not follow the directives from the national security.

He said the young officer was already identified.

Asked what the directives were, Mr Bol explained that the security do not want the media houses to report Riek Machar’s activities.

He said this was the first incident with CTV in six months of broadcasting.

A reliable source told CRN that his organization was told not to invite journalists to cover an activity with Dr Machar.

The National Security Service or NSS issued today a press release saying the force “has nothing to do with the said clowned security officer nor has established any contact with the [Citizen] newspaper or television staff in anyway.”

The statement added that the NSS “neither had ordered any media censorship on issues related to political situation in the country.”
