Eastern Equatoria Governor ordered the closure of the Department of Commerce in Nadapal check point in the Kenyan border.
Louis Lobong Lojore said the Commerce Office collected money without permission from the state authority, Emmanuel Radio reported.He observed that over taxation and multiple tables at Nadapal and Seretenya posts forced many traders to change the entry point for Nimule.
Mr Lobong said business people complained several times to his office over the high taxation and multiple tables at Nadapal and Seretenya customs offices.
The governor called on customs personnel at Nadapal check point to improve customs services in order to attract more traders to the country.
Mr Lobong accused customs officials of closing the border on Saturdays and Sundays, a situation that delayed travellers for two days.
The governor attended on Friday a meeting with Nadapal Custom officials on his back from Lodwar, Turkana district of Kenya.
Eastern Equatoria State Wildlife Conservation and Tourism George Echom said poor roads and road attacks also discourage traders.
