There is a large number of children on the streets across South Sudan that need a special attention from the government and from citizens.
Hellen Achiro Lotara, Labour and Public Service undersecretary, said street children are many due to lack of parental care, Voice of Hope reported. She added that children are given heavy works which can cause health problems, psychological effects and poor growth.
Ms Achiro said she was worried that the future of street children would be bad in ten years time if people are not taking care of children.
She said if people invest well on children and give them special protection, South Sudan will have a healthy generation.
Ms Achiro said the government is committed to keep children safe and well protected.
the undersecretary said the national government ratified the Child Act.
She called on all people to join hands with the government to help children before the situation worsens.
The national Labour undersecretary made these remarks during a Greater Bahr el Ghazal two-day consultative workshop on child labour in Wau.
