POLICE APOLOGIZES FOR FAILING TO PREVENT WAU HOSPITAL INCIDENT

The new Police General Director in Western Bahr el Ghazal apologized for failing to protect Wau Teaching Hospital staff on May 13 when a soldier who lost his wife during birth killed one doctor.

Major General Akot Deng Akot said he was very sorry for what happened, Voice of Hope reported.

He admitted that the police could control the bereaved man before the incident happened.

Major General Deng asked all the people and the family of the late Carlo Zachariah to accept his apologies and condolences.

He added that such an episode would never repeat itself.

The Director said although the soldier threatened to kill the doctor no action was taken.

Major General Deng told the state authorities that he came to work for the safety of citizens and of their properties.

He urged all military departments in the state to collaborate by keeping guns in stores when off duty so that nobody uses them to commit crimes.

Major General Deng urged all the community members in the state to report suspected cases quickly instead of ignoring them.

The apology came when major general Deng was meeting with medical Staffs at Wau Teaching Hospital on Monday.
