The Government of Central Equatoria State condemned rampant rape taking place in the state.
Recently, a ten-year old girl died in Juba Teaching Hospital after being raped and kept closed in a car.
Cabinet Affairs minister Oba Cicilia told the press that defilers, rapists and parents who force their girls into marriage at an early age should be brought before the courts to face the law.
The minister stated that shortage of police officers in the state and in the republic remained a challenge to arrest criminals involved in such cases.
Ms Oba appealed to parents not to permit their girls to enter early marriage and protect them from perpetrators that destroy their future since they have a role to play in the country’s development.
