The Catholic Church in South Africa created a website ahead of the 2010 Football World Cup that kicks off on June 11 in Johannesburg.

Cardinal Wilfrid Napier, Archbishop of Durban, says in the welcoming note that Churchontheball dot com is dedicated to the presence of the Catholic Church in the South Africa World Cup.

The website displays a news section with stories in English, French and Spanish.

Churchontheball also tells visiting catholic football fans where and when they can attend mass near the stadia that host the World Cup together with the parish priests’ contacts.

The South African Catholic Church prepared also the 2010 Soccer Prayer Book, a collection of inspiring prayers including the Soccer World Cup prayer and the Lord is Our Referee, the order of the mass and some useful information about the Catholic Church in South Africa.

The website features also a campaign against human trafficking alerting visitors for child labour and child prostitution during the tournament.
