Communal fighting and cattle raids hindered development and destabilized Lakes State for a long time.

Lakes state Governor Matur Chut Dhoul said inter-state communal fighting and cattle raids have claimed many lives in his state, Voice of Hope reported.

He suggested that good regional roads will foster security, communities’ integration and flow of goods and commodities.

Mr Chut said drought stalled crops production last year, but this year the state is prepared and introduced additional workforce in agriculture.

He added that sufficient and safe drinking water remains a major insecurity challenge for humans and animals.

Mr Chut called on the national government and development partners to help.

Northern Bahr El Ghazal Governor Paul Malong Awan stressed that the Sudan is the main security threat of his state.

He called for more bilateral relations between South Sudan and Sudan.

Mr Malong urged all the participants to deliberate openly and honestly to achieve expected outcomes of the people of Greater Bahr El Ghazal.

Both governors appreciated Northern Bahr El Ghazal for organizing what they called “historical regional conference”.
