The army said the killing of one doctor at Wau Teaching Hospital was an individual case that had nothing to do with the armed forces.

SPLA Sector One commander in Western Bahr El-Ghazal Gabriel Jok Riak told Voice of Hope that the soldier who shot the three medical personnel on Monday has to face the law as an individual.

He added that the army had no hand on the killing.

General Jok said the assailant was not on duty or on mission but did not mention how he accessed the gun.

The commander condemned the act, noting that it was brutal and should not be linked to the army.

General Jok remarked that doctors are trying their best to rescue life and that all should know that going to the hospital is not an assurance that you will survive but a probability between live and death.

He said the army is beefing up the security ahead of the May16 celebration.

General Jok called on citizens to avoid generalizing the behaviour of one person.
