Sudan opposition parties are holding the government of Khartoum responsible for the killing of the Abyei chief, Kuol Deng Kuol on May 4.
Sidiq Yousif, a Communist Party Political Bureau member, told the press in Juba on Monday that the Khartoum government is responsible for the brutal murder of the chief because it supports Messeriya militias in Abyei. He thinks Chief Kuol was killed because he was a leading vision for peaceful coexistence of Messeriya and Ngok Dinka in Abyei.
The Communist leader said both tribes have to sit together and agree on a peaceful solution in Abyei irrespective of the independence of the governments.
Mr Yousif said Ngok Dinka and Messeriya have been living together peacefully for more than 500 years and the conflict intensified due to Khartoum’s political intrusion.
He advised both the Ngok Dinka and the Messeriya tribes that the conflict is not for their benefit but because the Sudanese government is only interested in Abyei oil and not interested in its people.
A delegation of Sudan’s opposition parties is visiting Juba for five days to pay condolences to the Ngok Dinka and to the South Sudanese and hold talks with top government officials.
Popular Congress Party Political Affairs Secretary, Kamal Ahmed Omer, is the head of the delegation.
