Strong winds on Monday destroyed the Torit County Prisons office veranda injuring three officers.
Torit County Prisons deputy Director, Lieutenant Colonel Caesar Mamur, explained the incidence to Radio Emmanuel saying the injured officers were rushed for treatment to Torit civil Hospital.
Lt. Col. Mamur described the victims as two prison warders and one female court official accompanying a prisoner.
He added the buildings that house his department offices are old and dilapidated.
Lt. Col. Mamur said the structures were constructed in 1946 by the British administrations.
He added that the entire department lacks accommodation for both inmates and the prison warders.
Lt. Col. Mamur explained that prisons are over congested and life is miserable for the inmates crowed in small rooms.
