The Catholic University is close to the hearts of the bishops of South Sudan and Sudan and its graduated students should be part of the solution to the problems of tribalism and corruption that threaten the peace.
Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kusala told the attendants at the Second Graduation Ceremony of the Catholic University of South Sudan in Juba on Saturday that the bishops started thinking about setting up the high learning institution in 1988.He said the canonization of St Daniel Comboni in 2003 gave a new impulse to the project.
Bishop Hiiboro added that the Catholic University is close to the hearts of the bishops of both Sudans.
He said education is the key that opens the door for the transformation of the country.
Bishop Hiiboro told the 57 students who graduated on Economic and Business Administration that they should be part of the solution of the ills affecting the country by providing answers to conflicts and problems.
He added that the bishops want South Sudan a stable and peaceful country.
Bishop Hiiboro asked the new agraduands to make the people of South Sudan to shine.
He said they were graduating at a time when the country needs good hands to rebuild itself.
Bishop Hiiboro appealed to parents to support the education of their children
He thanked CUEA, the Catholic University of East Africa, for the support to the affiliated Catholic University of South Sudan.
Two CUEA professors came from Nairobi, Kenya to attend the graduation.
The National Minister of Higher Education Peter Adwok Nyaba was among the many guests and relatives of the graduands that filled the compound of St Joseph parish.
The 57 graduands received the certificate of completion; they will receive a BA on Economics from CUEA in October in Nairobi.
