The government is working hard to have finally its printing press working soon.

Government spokesperson Barnaba Marial Benjamin told the press on Monday that the printing press is nearly ready but he did not mention a date for the handover.

He said the printing press is a modern facility and South Sudan’s newspapers will be printed in Juba instead of Sudan, Uganda and Kenya.

Dr Marial said the government and the media houses will sit together to discuss a fair price for the printing services.

He revealed that the Ministry is also reorganizing the government website for people to follow government activities.

Dr Marial said his ministry is making a proposal to the Council of Ministers to develop a government bulletin and a gazette to give some visibility to what the government is doing.

He explained that the ministry is working with the Japan International Cooperation Agency or JICA to digitalize South Sudan Television and Radio by June 2015.

Dr Marial added that the project is a four-year programme and staffs are under training supported by the Japanese government.

The Government scheduled to open the printing press on the first independence anniversary.
