A traders association is demanding a seat in the Wau Municipal Council Assembly.

Western Bahr El Ghazal Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture sai the Municipal Council Assembly did not consider the chamber representation in the Business Committee, Voice of Hope reported.

Wall Charles Alio, who heads the Chamber, explained that having a representative in the Municipal Assembly would safeguard its interests and get first hand information about municipal decisions.

Wau Municipal Legislative Council chairperson Philip Deng Ulak accepted the demands of the Chamber and promised to look into them.

He called for Trade Chamber to collaborate with the Municipality promising that it should be notified of all resolutions passed.

Mr Deng noted that the demand of the Trade Chamber to have a representative will be submitted to the Council.

Wau Municipal Council passed its conduct of business early March but it is still pending approval from the Mayor.
