The Egyptian Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus are marking 100 years of foundation.

Six sisters arrived in the Catholic Diocese of Wau in 2011 and settled in Kwajok at St Joseph parish, Voice of Hope reported.

The congregation was founded in Egypt in April of 1913.

The sisters worked in ?Sennar, and Damazin, Sudan, before coming to South Sudan.

Bishop Rudolf Deng Majak of Wau on Saturday joined the celebration and expressed his gratitude for the enthusiasm of the congregation for extending their service to his diocese.

He said the sisters were committed to serve humanity.

Sister Margaret Silvio said as 100 years have gone, the congregation is starting a new journey, especially in South Sudan.

She revealed that the Egyptian sisters started establishing in Kwajok a nursery school to groom God loving children and they wanted to expand to other communities.

Sr Margaret thanked God for the protection and guidance the congregation received in the past century.

She invoked continued blessings for the new endeavours.
