A medical officer at Rumbek Civil Hospital has reported that Tuberculosis cases are increasing with 40 patients currently admitted to the hospital.

Daniel Lueth Malual, a superintendent at the Leprosy and TB Department told Good News Radio on Monday that TB cases are rising compared to the past.

He attributed the increase to related HIV/AIDS infections.

Mr. Lueth added that the department is also treating three Leprosy patients.

He advised the public to check for TB when they experience constant cough for two weeks.

Mr. Lueth also advised TB patients to take the prescribed drugs regularly for effective treatment of the disease.

The medical officer cited lack of proper feeding for the TB patients, revealing that BRAC, a non-governmental organization is planning to provide food assistance to the patients.
